They’re then painted or \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003epowder coated\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e to give them the appearance and protection we wanted for a properly restored truck.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eTESTED PAST 13,900 LBS\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWe didn’t just make them look tough. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWe put them on a tensile test machine.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eTwo finished hooks were tested:\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e62.01 kN — approximately 13,940 lbs of force\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e62.76 kN — approximately 14,110 lbs of force\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAnd here’s the best part:\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eTHE HOOKS DIDN’T BREAK.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAt those loads, the hooks remained intact \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ewithout deformation. The test\/mounting bolts failed first.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBecause the bolts failed before the hooks, these results should not be interpreted as the hooks’ ultimate breaking strength or as a 14,000-lb working-load\/tow rating.
